Online Marketing Fundamentals

Online Marketing – It’s Marketing First of All!

The Object of any Business is to Make Money. Your Computer and the Internet are Just Tools

Just like any business, an online business requires a plan.

You wouldn’t open an offline business without first planning what you were going to sell, to whom, where, etc. would you? If not, why do so many people come on the internet and decide to do Internet Marketing without first planning for their business?

Sure, there are lots of ways to make money on the internet, some of them are “quick and dirty,” but, to build a sustainable, long term business takes some planning and preparation.

My website, NetBizBuilder, is here to teach how to build a business not get an

online job making money. If that’s what you’re looking for, there are plenty of other places online to learn how to make a quick buck. If, however you want a business that will last and grow, that can eventually be passed on to your children or sold, you’re in the right place.

The first objective of anybusiness is to make money. People tend to forget that marketing is, after all, SELLING!

Right now, if you’re like most people you’re thinking “Oh No! I’m not a salesperson. I don’t know how to sell.” That simply isn’t true. No matter who you are or where you live, you’ve been selling all your life. It’s just that most of the selling you do doesn’t make you any money.

Do you have a “significant other” (boyfriend, girlfriend, spouse)? Getting that person to like you well enough to make a commitment to you took a lot more selling than is required to market most products.

The problem arises when you think of selling as something a sleazy used car salesman does. That isn’t selling – that’s conning.

Selling, in the purest sense is providing a product that will be useful to the people you are selling it to.

Zig Ziglar, the well-known motivational speaker and trainer, says, “You

can have anything in life you want if you just help enough other people get what they want.”

That’s what selling is – or should be.

Entire books are written on how to sell, what selling is and just about any

other aspect of selling one can think of. Although I will get into some specific techniques on sales and selling, that’s not the primary purpose here.

I’ve spent most of my life engaged in selling in one form or another and

know thousands of little techniques and even tricks to get the sale

but what I consider most important is providing something that your prospect wants and presenting it to him in a way that makes it easy for him to go ahead and make the purchase!

The primary goal of an internet business is to provide something of value to the right group of prospects (market) in a way that makes the

buying decision an easy one for them to make.

In order to have a successful online business, just like any other

business, you must take any number of steps:

  • Find a product or service that has a demand (that people want)

  • Determine how to reach those people

  • Reach them in a way that makes your product or service appealing

  • Make it urgent that they take action on the purchase.

  • Provide an easy way for the purchase to be done

Within those steps are myriad other steps, actions and techniques but those

are the basic steps that are always followed.

This Is Just the Beginning!

This s the start of a project I’ve been planning for quite some time. I

plan to take anyone who is willing to do the work, and there will be

work involved, through all the necessary steps of using the internet as a sales tool to run a profitable business.

As they say in support groups, “Keep Coming Back!”
